Photos taken 9-5-13. Banding was done by Bird Research Northwest at the East Sand Island Caspian Tern Colony. Researchers advise the juvenile was probably fledged on Sand Island, flew to Pt. No Pt. while prospecting for new territory, and will migrate south for the winter. Caspian Tern are said to range as far north as Alaska, and south to Columbia in the Pacific Flyway. Juveniles are described as slow to learn to feed themselves. This juvenile was begging frequently while observed.
